about Les

Les went to school at the Oklahoma school for the blind in Muskogee Oklahoma, where I first started learning the piano tuning and repair trade. In 1970, he came to the Piano Hospital, or  the School of Piano Technology for the Blind, then in 1972, he started a piano tuning and repair business in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He ran this business successfully for 38 years. Along the way, he tuned for many wonderful people including some concert artists such as Roy Clark, Clint Black, Patricia Nixon, Julie Isenhower, Manhattan transfer, The Carpenters, Johnny Cash, Ronnie Millsap, and Tommy Overstreet.  He tuned for Oral Roberts university several times, as well as for many restaurants, churches and bars. In 2008 he came back to work for the Piano Hospital as an Instructor Technician. His mission is to help people and be a blessing to them.

I’ve even tuned a piano on a revolving platform that was turning at the time. I’ve tuned about every kind of piano imaginable. Guitars, harpsichords, autoharps, even a violin or two. I have even tuned a couple of harps for people. I have tuned several of the old tube type organs. A side note, one time a friend of mine was at my house when we were moving, and he pulled out a vacuum cleaner attachment and asked what kind of musical instrument was this, I replied, it is a musivac. He said, can you tune this? We had a good laugh over that one.
